Bay of Napoli, May 2022
I was invited to Napoli, Italy for an artist residency for the month of May 2022, with the private foundation Art 1307. I spent nearly a month exploring and making photographs in Napoli and its surrounding areas, with a focus on historic archaeological sites, museums and the city itself. I am currently working on processing and developing the photographs I made while in Napoli as proposals for future exhibitions in the city in 2023 or 2024. Once confirmed, I will be announcing those upcoming exhibitions on this Reveals page.
A few examples of the multiple-exposure Fusione images created in Napoli can be seen below. They are photographs of sculpture and architecture, layered with photographs of my paintings.
With both the digital layering process and the painting I am fusing the past with the present. This process is an attempt to story forth and emphasize what I feel is relevant from personal and collective memory and history while simultaneously dissolving and obscuring those past ideologies that have no relevance for 21st century humanity.
